Do guys want to be with girls they never got a chance with?

A guy and I really liked each other as freshman in high school. We made tons of fun plans, a main one to build a treehouse. I went the whole summer without seeing him, and only talkin to him once or twice. We don't have classes together this year, but my family wants to build a treehouse. Should I ask him? Do guys want a second chance with someone they didn't really get a chance with? Once you state your answer, could you tell me why you sy what you do too? Thanks!!
